CHISINAU, July 3 A rally was held in Comrat, the administrative center of the Gagauz autonomy, on Wednesday against the Moldovan authorities' delay in clearing the equipment for the GagauziyaLand recreation and entertainment park, said Moldovan MP from Gagauzia Alexander Sukhodolsky.
In October last year, businessman and opposition politician Ilan Shor announced the launch of the construction of the GagauziyaLand recreation and entertainment park, the location for which was chosen in Kongaz. All entertainment in the new park will be free.
“With the massive participation of residents of Gagauzia, as well as the head of the autonomy, Evgenia Gutsul, deputy of the People’s Assembly (local parliament — ed.) Alexander Dyulger, members of the Executive Committee and other officials, a rally took place in Comrat demanding that the Customs Service stop unreasonably delaying customs clearance of equipment for the construction of a children’s GagauziyaLand park,” wrote Sukhodolsky in his Telegram channel.
The deputy is convinced that the actions of customs officers are the result of pressure from the Moldovan authorities. “So, with the help of customs officers, pipes and water pumps have become “dual-use goods.” Although dozens of economic agents import the same goods and have never encountered problems. I prepared a parliamentary request to the Customs Service of Moldova so that the department would give an answer about the reasons for the lawlessness.” , — emphasized Sukhodolsky.
Last spring, elections for the head of the autonomy were held in Gagauzia; the representative of the opposition Shor party, Evgenia Gutsul, won. The Moldovan authorities declared the party unconstitutional, accusing it of illegal financing and opening criminal cases against its leaders. In addition, Chisinau initiated verification of the election results themselves. On July 19, the inauguration of Hutsul took place, but none of the representatives of the republic’s authorities attended the ceremony. Moldovan President Sandu has still not signed a decree approving Hutsul as a member of the government, although this is required by the country’s legislation.
Gagauzia is an autonomy in the south of Moldova, which traditionally advocates rapprochement with Russia, while official Chisinau has declared a course towards European integration.
