
MOSCOW, July 3 Winner of the Olympics, World Championship and Cup America's Angel Di Maria is not included in the Argentine national team for the Games in Paris, according to the website of the Argentine Football Association.
It was previously reported that world champions Lionel Messi and Di Maria, who became Olympic champions at the 2008 Games in Beijing, could perform in Paris in the Argentine national team. However, Messi later announced that he would not go to the Olympics.
The quota of three age players was taken by the 36-year-old defender of the Portuguese “Benfica” Nicolas Otamendi, the 32-year-old goalkeeper of the Dutch “Ajax” Jeronimo Rugli and the 24-year-old striker of the English “Manchester City” Julian Alvarez.
The 18 players selected for the tournament by head coach Javier Mascherano included:
goalkeepers: Rogli, Leandro Brey;
defenders: Otamendi, Bruno Amione, Marco Di Cesare, Gonzalo Lujan, Joaquin Garcia, Julio Soler;
midfielders:Santiago Esse, Christian Medina, Ezequiel Fernandez, Kevin Zenon, Claudio Echeverri, Thiago Almada;
Forwards: Luciano Gondu, Julian Alvarez, Giuliano Simeone, Lucas Beltran.
The Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11.
