The Southern District Military Court sentenced Sevastopol resident Konstantin Soldatov to 16 years in a maximum security colony under articles about preparation of a terrorist attack and production of explosives, as well as illegal sale of explosive devices on the Internet. The press service of the court reported this to Mediazona.
The court clarified that Soldatov must spend the first three years in prison, the rest in a maximum security colony. In addition, a resident of Sevastopol was fined 500 thousand rubles.
According to investigators, in July 2023, an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine contacted Soldatov, after which the resident of Sevastopol was recruited and “assumed obligations to move, store weapons and means of a terrorist act — the explosion of railway lines.” In July 2023, Soldatov, according to investigators, took out components for making an explosive device from a cache in the Bakhchisarai region of Crimea and kept them at his home for two months, after which he was detained, the press service said.
Video with the supposedly detained Soldatov was published by the TASS agency in September 2023.
“A user with the nickname Max Povyanov came to me, he introduced himself that he was an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate,” says a man with a blurred face in the video. “He supplied information that he needed information about the central entrance to the Sevastopol Bay, where protective booms and air defense points that cover them are located.”
The contacted “employee” also asked to be informed about the movements of ships and submarines carrying Kalibr long-range missiles. In addition, the man in the video says, he was supposed to record the Caliber base locations and notify about the takeoff of aircraft from Belbek airport.
