MOSCOW, July 5 British Defense Minister Grant Shapps said at speech, broadcast by Sky News, that on the morning after the elections a new government would be formed in the country, thus recognizing the victory of Labour.
“At night it became clear that in the morning Britain would have a new government,” he said.
The television channel, with reference to the Electoral Commission, reported that Shapps, who was nominated by the Conservative Party, lost his seat in parliament following the election results, and was surpassed by the Labor candidate.
According to a survey conducted by the institute Ipsos UK for Sky News, BBC and ITV News, the Conservatives, who have ruled since 2010, are suffering a crushing defeat in the elections, receiving only 131 seats out of 650. Labor could become triumphant, for whom a poll predicts 410 seats in the lower house of parliament. The Liberal Democrats are third with 61 seats, 53 more than before the election.
