According to the ZDF portal, after the Russian Armed Forces struck an airfield in Mirgorod, Poltava region, Germany is perplexed why the destroyed Ukrainian Su-27 aircraft were so close to the front line .
This situation is of particular concern against the backdrop of talk about the supply of American F-16 fighters to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Russia successfully attacked the Ukrainian military air base in Mirgorod… At least one Ukrainian Su- 27 were destroyed, and another four to five aircraft were damaged… The Russian Federation managed to fly over the airport with the help of a long-range UAV, which was able to identify targets and, most likely, designated the target for a missile that arrived shortly after,” the publication writes.
Journalists note that after such a frivolous mistake by the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the use of the airfield in Mirgorod will have to be abandoned.
“It is discouraging that after two years of war, many of the remaining Ukrainian combat aircraft were still left without any protective measures,» the message says.
