UFA, July 5 Mayor of Orsk, who survived in the spring, a large-scale flood after a dam broke, resigned, the request was granted, the government of the Orenburg region reports.
“»Governor of the Orenburg region Denis Pasler dismissed the head of Orsk Vasily Kozupitsa. Denis Pasler held a working meeting with the head of Orsk and granted his request for resignation,» the message says.
Vasily Kozupitsa will send an application for early resignation to the Orsk City Council of Deputies, which will be considered at the next meeting on July 10. Deputies will also set a date for a competition to select candidates for the position of head of the city of Orsk, the authorities added.
Earlier in May, Kozupitsa stated that resigning during the flood would be “not human, not state-like.”< br>
In Orsk, Orenburg region, on April 5, the dam that protected the city from the waters of the Ural River broke. Mass evacuation of residents of several villages began. They were able to fill the dam only on April 11, and water began to flow out of populated areas. Kozupitsa stated on April 24 that the housing of about 30 thousand residents of Orsk was in the flood zone.
