The page of the fictional war-time poet appeared on VKontakte in July 2023. He was given a black and white photo generated by a neural network as his avatar. A year later, journalist Andrei Zakharov said that the account was created by him familiar.
Over the year, the authors of the page have translated 18 poems by such authors as Heinrich Anacker and Eberhard Möller. They adapted them and added references to Russia and modern realities, for example, “Wagner PMC”. The poems were accompanied by stock photos of the military, Vladimir Putin and drawings with Z-symbols.
95 State Duma deputies and 28 senators of the Federation Council, including Dmitry Rogozin and Andrey Klishas, were added as friends on VKontakte to Rakitin . Senator Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn marked the page of “Rakitin” in a photo from Putin’s inauguration in May.
The creators of “Rakitin” also submitted their translations to poetry competitions. They reached the semi-finals in a competition held by the Kaluga branch of the Union of Writers, and the Moscow magazine, which receives support from the Ministry of Digital Arts, selected them to participate in the Patriotic Free Libre competition.
