MAKHACHKALA, July 6 More than 70 thousand people were left without electricity due to a short circuit on a power transformer in the Dagestan Khasavyurt, the press service of the city mayor’s office reported.
«»According to preliminary information… as a result of an emergency situation, a short circuit occurred on a power transformer with a capacity of 25 MVA. The transformer failed, and in parallel, power transformers 16 and 25 MVA were switched off… More than 70 thousand residents of the city of Khasavyurt and a number of populated areas fell into the blackout zone points of the Khasavyurt and Novolaksky districts (Dagestan),» the message says.
The mayor's office added that Dagenergo divisions are attempting to turn on 16 and 25 MVA transformers.
The press service of the main directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Dagestan reported that a “fire” occurred at the Yaryg-Su substation.
«Fire units were not involved in extinguishing the fire. The management of electrical networks and brigades are on site. Organized and emergency restoration work is being carried out,” the department said.
