Previously, a senior White House official said that at the NATO summit in Washington in July, the alliance's agreements with Ukraine in the field of military training, logistics, technical support and financial support would be announced. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also previously stated that a new aid package for Ukraine, which is planned to be approved at the summit in Washington, as well as promoting greater compatibility of the Ukrainian army with alliance standards, will become for Kyiv “a bridge to NATO membership.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Ukraine's possible membership in NATO is a threat to Russia's security. He emphasized that Kyiv’s chance to join the alliance was one of the reasons for the start of a special military operation. -0-
