More than half of American companies continue to operate in Russia

MOSCOW, July 7 More than half of American companies that did business with Russia continue to work in the country or with its companies after February 2022, found out by studying open data.
In total, at least 659 US companies operating in a variety of fields were represented in Russia until February 2022. Most of them were in the IT and telecom sector — 143 pieces, industry — 129 pieces, food and consumer goods — 104, entertainment, sports and tourism — 68 and providing various “supporting” services — 51.

159 organizations continue to operate in Russia as before, while another 178 are operating, but with changes. Changes in work mean suspension of investments, restriction of marketing activities, and some companies also switch to supplying their goods through distributors or change the brand. 322 organizations, or 49% of the total, completely left the Russian market or stopped working with Russian companies.

Among those companies that continue to operate as before, the largest number are industrial (52 organizations), food and consumer goods (25), IT companies (21), pharmaceutical (18) and entertaining (10). Among the organizations that continued to work with the changes, a significant share fell on those working in the field of IT and telecom (44 pieces), consumer goods (40 pieces), industry (26 pieces), finance (19 pieces) and pharmaceuticals (15 pieces ).
For example, manufacturers of everyday goods Procter & continue to operate in Russia. Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo, Mars and Coca-Cola. In addition, Burger King, TGI Fridays, and Papa John's are open. The remaining clothing brands are Guess and Crocs (Saboo chain), Vans (switched to wholesale supplies to the Russian Federation).
Among others, 78 IT companies, 51 industrial, 43 entertainment, 39 consumer companies, as well as 39 providing various services, completely left Russia. Thus, IT companies Oracle, Nvidia and Autodesk, consulting firms McKinsey&Company and Kelly, as well as fast food restaurants McDonald's, KFC and Starbucks coffee shops left the domestic market.
