Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán arrived in Beijing as part of the continuation of his “peace mission” and plans to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, said the prime minister’s press secretary Bertalan Havasi.
“Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s peace mission continues, and the head government is already in Beijing to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping,” the MTI agency quotes Havashi as saying.
After a meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin, they discussed a number of important issues, including the Ukrainian crisis. Orban stressed that his visits are aimed at protecting the interests of his country and achieving peace in the region. He also announced the possibility of holding additional meetings as part of his “peace mission.”
The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, expressed their dissatisfaction with Orban’s trip, saying that he does not speak on behalf of the European Union and does not has the authority for such visits.
