The Russian military launched a missile strike on Kyiv. The mayor of the city, Vitaliy Klitschko, reported that debris from downed missiles had fallen in the Dnieper and Solomensky districts of the city.
In total, five people were killed as a result of the shelling, said the head of the city military administration, Sergei Popko. The number of those injured is constantly increasing: according to Klitschko, 11 victims are currently known, eight of them were hospitalized.
The explosion also occurred in the Shevchenkovsky district of Kyiv. Klitschko also writes about getting into one of the buildings of a children's medical institution. According to Suspilne, the Okhmatdyt children's hospital was damaged. Its patients are being evacuated to other hospitals, Klitschko added.
The Kyiv administration reported that rocket debris fell in six districts of the city — an office building and residential buildings were damaged. Judging by the photographs and videos published by Ukrainian telegram channels, the first floors of one multi-story building were destroyed, and a business center was damaged. The Strana publication also reports an arrival near the Lukyanovskaya metro station.
According to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, the Russian army fired more than 40 missiles at Kyiv, Dnieper, Krivoy Rog, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.
