As a result of a repeated missile strike on Kyiv, the building of a medical center in the Dnieper district of the city was partially destroyed. This was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations.
When the hospital was shelled, seven people were killed and three were injured, the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office reported. The head of the city military administration, Sergei Popko, said that there could be people under the rubble.
In total, 17 people were killed and 41 were injured during the shelling of Kyiv. During the first attack, the Okhmatdyt children's hospital was partially destroyed. According to the mayor of the city, Vitaliy Klitschko, two adults, including a doctor, died. 16 people were injured, seven of whom were children. Rescuers continue to clear the rubble.
Klitschko also said that as a result of shelling in Kyiv, the entrance to a residential building was destroyed, and people were also under the rubble.
On the morning of July 8, Russian troops fired more than 40 missiles at several cities in Ukraine, reported the country's President Vladimir Zelensky. 14 people were killed during shelling of the Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk regions.
According to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Ermak, the Okhmatdyt hospital was hit by a Russian X-101 cruise missile. “Russia cannot but know where its missiles are flying, and must fully answer for all its crimes: against people, against children, against humanity in general. It is very important that the world is not silent about this now and everyone sees what Russia is, what it is doing,” Zelensky commented on the attack on the hospital.
The Russian Ministry of Defense called the morning shelling of Ukraine a “response” to the attacks on “energy and economic facilities.” The department claims that Russian troops hit military industry facilities and aviation bases of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and photographs and videos from Kyiv “unambiguously confirm the fact of destruction due to the fall of a Ukrainian air defense missile.”
