MOSCOW, July 8 Positive changes in relations between Russia and France There is no point in expecting anything after the parliamentary elections in the republic, since the issue of the Ukrainian crisis is important for Russia, and in France almost all political forces are in favor of supporting Ukraine, said Sergei Fedorov, a leading researcher at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“I think that we should not expect any positive news in this regard, because for us, of course, the issue of the Ukrainian crisis is important. We often have a statement in the press that Marine Le Pen's party is a pro-Russian party. It's not like that at all. Almost all political forces in France, including the National Rally, are in favor of supporting Ukraine,” Fedorov said during a round table on the results of the parliamentary elections in France at the international multimedia press center of the Rossiya Segodnya media group.
However, the majority of the political class in France is categorically against the possible sending of French troops to Ukraine; they are in favor of taking diplomatic measures to resolve the conflict, the expert noted.
“Whatever the composition of the National Assembly and the government, the prerogative in matters of foreign policy, defense, security, and internal affairs remains with the president. Although, of course, one should not neglect the importance of parliament. Because parliament, parliamentarians vote for the budget, for the allocation of appropriate funds, so here there is also a dependence of the president on the deputies. But I repeat that perhaps, at best, the new composition of the national assembly will calm down Macron’s militant positions a little… I think that this militant rhetoric will subside a little, but this is at best. «, concluded Fedorov.
The coalition of left parties «New Popular Front» won the parliamentary elections in France, receiving 182 seats out of 577 in the National Assembly of the country, according to data from the French Ministry of Internal Affairs, published by the Monde newspaper. Emmanuel Macron's «Together» coalition took second place, receiving 168 seats in the National Assembly. Marine Le Pen's National Rally took third place in the parliamentary elections, receiving 143 seats in the lower house of the country's parliament.
