In a joint statement by the leaders of Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, the United States and Ukraine, distributed by the White House press service on Tuesday, it was announced on the allocation of more than $1 billion to Ukraine to strengthen the air defense system. The authors of the statement expressed gratitude to more than 50 countries providing military support to Ukraine, and to the participants in the initiative, who promised to allocate the specified amount to strengthen the country's air defense.
The document also notes NATO's work in supporting Ukraine's efforts to create a united and integrated air and missile defense systems. At an event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of NATO in Washington, American President Joe Biden announced the beginning of the transfer of additional strategic and tactical air defense systems to Ukraine, including Patriot and NASAMS. He also recalled the US decision to prioritize the transfer of US-made interceptors for air defense systems to the Ukrainian armed forces.
