The economist named an unexpected tool for a breakthrough in the economy

MOSCOW, July 16. The recently emerged idea of chaebolization of the Russian economy can work for its benefit, but support and control from the state are needed, Oleg Moskvitin, deputy director of the Institute for Research of National and Comparative Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, told the Prime agency.
Chaebols — financially -industrial diversified holdings, typical for some Asian countries. They pool synergistic resources (production, wholesale, retail, finance) under the control of one family or dynasty. At the same time, they are supported by the state.
““In South Korea, chaebols sometimes account for up to 60% of the Korean economy,” Moskvitin noted.
In Russia, the need for such synergy arose due to sanctions. It can become one of the tools for a breakthrough in the economy, but not on the basis of family businesses, but relying on large companies supported by the state. For example, these could be leading banks.

However, in this scheme there is a risk of excessive monopolization and dependence on the quality of management on the part of top management. Therefore, the state should control the work of Russian chaebols, the economist concluded.
