One of the power units of the Rostov NPP , which is located in the city of Volgodonsk, was automatically disconnected from the network due to problems with the turbogenerator. This was reported by Rosatom.
“The reasons are being clarified, the radiation background is normal,” the message says.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy reported that due to a failure at the Rostov NPP in Under conditions of increased loads on the power system of the South of Russia, temporary schedules for limiting consumption by 1.5 GW were introduced to maintain the stability of the power system.
Later, the volume of restrictions was reduced from 1.5 GW to 500 MW due to optimization of network operation. The press service of the Rostov NPP clarified that the first power unit automatically switched off due to the generator protection tripping; the automation system worked normally. After eliminating the reasons for the protection triggering, the power unit will be prepared for startup.
The second and fourth power units are operating normally, the third is undergoing scheduled repairs.
Power outages affected Krasnodar, Sevastopol, Yalta, Alushta, Kerch and a number of other cities and towns.
