MOSCOW, July 17 The drone tracking system based on ERA-GLONASS was successfully tested on Sakhalin, it allows you to identify drones and confirm their routes for all interested departments, reported in the official Telegram channel of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
«»On Sakhalin, a system for tracking aircraft drones based on ERA-GLONASS was successfully tested. During the educational intensive «Archipelago-2024», vehicles equipped with Russian-made mini-trackers were connected to the state information system. This allows UAVs to be identified and confirmed routes for all interested departments,” the message says.
The department explained the operation of such a system. Data from ERA-GLONASS is transmitted to the situation center at the Pushisty airfield on Sakhalin Island, as well as to two commercial platforms. Thus, a digital twin of the drone is displayed on the screen with information about the model, characteristics, owner and permission to fly.
«»The decision creates the preconditions for lifting bans on civil unmanned aircraft flights in more than 70 regions of the country. The gradual lifting of restrictions will accelerate the development of the industry and the introduction of drones into the Russian economy. Currently, only 2% of the territory of Russia is open to unmanned aircraft. The new decision will increase the geography of flights to 30% in the next year and to the entire territory of the Russian Federation in the next 2-3 years through the use of Russian satellite communication channels,” explained the Ministry of Transport.
