ANKARA, July 20 US presidential candidate Donald Trump is not will support Ukraine as current leader Joe Biden does, pressure from Washington will have an impact on the Kyiv administration, said Turkish analyst Engin Ozer.
Trump has previously said that the conflict in Ukraine would never have started if he had been the current US president instead of Joe Biden. He also stated that if he is re-elected, he intends to achieve a settlement of the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in just 24 hours. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on these words of Trump, stated that this is too complex a problem for such a simple solution.
«Public opinion polls indicate that Donald Trump, who is likely to win the US presidential election, will not support Ukraine the way Biden does. According to US media reports, there is a consensus in Trump's advisory group to oppose Ukraine and Georgia's membership in NATO and to reduce «or completely stop» military support for Ukraine. Such pressure from Republicans will influence the Kyiv administration. On the other hand, if the US administration determines such a strategy, it may cause a reassessment of this issue among other NATO member countries,» the agency's interlocutor said.
According to him, Kyiv expects «serious guarantees.»
«One of the most important of these issues is the bilateral agreement on military security with NATO member countries, Kyiv was able to obtain serious guarantees in this context. The second important issue is the protection of Ukrainian airspace by air defense and aviation, in this regard there has been serious progress. All these preparations seem to be preparation for the peace process. All the «decision makers» in European capitals, Moscow, Kyiv and even Ankara are waiting for the results of the American elections,» the analyst believes.
