MOSCOW, July 23. The captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) club Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin spoke about the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.
A shooting occurred during Trump's campaign speech in Pennsylvania on July 13, the former president was wounded in the ear , one of the spectators died, two more were critically injured.
““Stupidity, I think. I don’t understand how you can kill a person, even if you hate him. Thank God he survived. I can’t vote, I have I don't have a US passport. It's hard to judge who I would vote for, you have to be an American,» Ovechkin said in an interview on the YouTube channel «Khach's Diary.»
Ovechkin is 38 years old. The Russian has played for Washington since 2005. He is the 2018 Stanley Cup winner and ranks second on the list of the best snipers in NHL history. The Russian has 853 goals, while Gretzky holds the league record with 894 goals in 1,487 games.
