In August, payments to working pensioners will be increased: the recalculation amount has been announced

But the main gift from the Social Fund is ahead

Starting August 1, the Social Fund will conduct an undeclared recalculation of the insurance pension for working pensioners who worked in 2023 and for whom employers paid contributions. The amounts awaiting veterans are small – maximum 3 pension coefficients, or less than 400 rubles in terms of money. But it will be better: after all, starting next year, indexations frozen 8 years ago will be restored to older workers.

But the main gift from the Social Fund is ahead

The Social Fund website reports that the amount of the August recalculation depends on the pensioner’s salary. The higher it was over the past year, the correspondingly larger the increase in pension will be. However, the maximum increase is limited by law — no more than 3 pension coefficient points) for 133.05 rubles.

But it still needs to be earned. Experts say that the salary level at which three points are assigned is not 70 thousand or even 100 thousand rubles. Those whose average monthly salary is 200-250 thousand will receive the maximum.

In general, the average working Russian pensioner, at best, has the right to count on an increase of 2 pension points — 266 rubles and kopecks.

However, it must be taken into account that the pension point is taken not from the level of 2024 (those 133 rubles), but from the period when the citizen received a pension. The point system began to be used in our country in 2015 and is indexed annually. If a person retired, say, in 2016, then the point was worth 74 rubles. And the current recalculation of 2 points will give him an increase in his pension of only 148 rubles.

It is not surprising that in previous years, many pensioners would especially like this increase in their wallet  and didn't notice. They still don't know that it even exists. But the increase still exists, and in any case this money will “drip” working pensioners in August.

Of course, a year ago, after the traditional August recalculation, experts were unanimously indignant — they say that such a tiny increase, a couple of hundred rubles a month, does not play any role for a working person. And they, of course, were absolutely right. What does an extra 150 rubles mean in our lives? A half-box haircut at a social barbershop (the most popular hairstyle among veterans) costs almost twice as much.

However, today it is somehow inappropriate for older workers to complain about their unenviable lot. After all, very soon, from 2025, they will finally resume indexation of pensions. Starting next year, the Social Fund will conduct it on a common basis with non-working pensioners, taking into account inflation for the previous year and the income of the fund itself.

The first indexation for this category of veterans (remember that there are 8.7 million working pensioners in the country) will take place on February 1. And you need to keep in mind that it will be applied to the pension amount, taking into account the increases that took place in the period 2016-2024. During these years, the indexation of pensions for workers was fixed, but not paid, but now allows for a higher increase in pensions. It is also noteworthy that next year, despite the restoration of indexations, the August recalculation for working pensioners will remain: they will continue to be awarded additional points.

According to Alexander Safonov, a professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, The pensioner will receive full indexation of the pension (with payment of amounts frozen since 2016) only after he stops working.

“I believe,” he believes, “that his pension will increase by about one pension point.” those veterans whose wages are in the area of the minimum wage or slightly higher.

— We have a practice in which a citizen of retirement age who does not receive a pension, but continues to work, accumulates points — at the expense of the contributions that the employer makes for him to the Social Fund. And even though you can get a maximum of only three points in a year, each point is indexed annually, and for a pensioner every penny is valuable.
