The IOC Executive Board set a deadline for issuing guarantees from «The IOC has agreed to issue the documents by October 2024, and they must be ready for parliamentary approval no later than March 2025,» said Thomas Bach, head of the organization.
«According to the IOC's requirements, the French government must provide guarantees for the Olympics to be held, and confirmation of the agreement between three regions — Evian, Rhone-Alpes and Provence-Alpes — and the French government is also required. The French delegation has confirmed that these requirements will be met when the government is in the necessary position to do so. We have received letters from two regions confirming their financial guarantees and their readiness to continue work without delay. The deadline for providing the above-mentioned guarantees is December 31, 2024. «The French Alps bid is a very strong sporting and technical project, with great support from the government and the population,» Karl Stoss, head of the Future Games Commission, told the IOC session.
Bach had previously said the French government could not provide guarantees for the 2030 Winter Olympics. In July, IOC communications director Mark Adams said «the political situation is complicating» the issue of France hosting the Winter Olympics.
