MOSCOW, July 25 Canadian singer Celine Dion and American performer Lady Gaga will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, The Independent reports.
Earlier, information appeared that both singers were staying at a hotel near the Champs-Elysees. As journalist Thierry Moreau reported on the social network X, the duo rehearsed the song of the French singer Edith Piaf La Vie en Rose.
Dion will perform at the opening ceremony on Friday for the first time since 2022 of the year. In December, Celine Dion announced on social media that she had suffered a serious neurological illness, forcing her to cancel eight summer concerts in 2023 and reschedule spring concerts until 2024. The singer said that due to the disease, she suffers from nervous spasms that prevent her from moving and singing.
Celine Dion is the winner of the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest (representing Switzerland). In 1997, James Cameron invited her to perform the song My Heart Will Go On, which became the theme of the film Titanic. This composition received an Oscar (1998) and four Grammys (1999).
