The court fined a Rostov stylist for appearing on the catwalk with a crown of thorns on his head

The Voroshilovsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don fined stylist Araik Ishkhanyan 40 thousand rubles under the protocol on the desecration of religious symbols (Part 2 of Article 5.26 of the Administrative Code). The court's decision was revealed by the publishing house «Layout».

The hearing in the Ishkhanyan case took place on April 17, but it became known only now.

According to the court decision, the stylist publicly desecrated “signs of worldview symbolism” by walking onto the catwalk of the Don Fashion Week 2023 designer clothing show wearing a crown of thorns and showing the gesture of the cross’s blessing.

Ishkhanyan himself did not agree with the decision and, through his lawyer, filed a complaint with a request to cancel it.

The Don Fashion Week 2023 show was held in Rostov-on-Don in November last year. In January, the regional publication Don24 wrote that “social networks were outraged” by Ishkhanyan’s appearance “in the image of Jesus Christ.” It also notes that Rostov residents paid attention to the show “after Anastasia Ivleeva’s scandalous naked party.”
