WASHINGTON, July 25 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris said Thursday she is ready to debate her Republican opponent Donald Trump on September 10, accusing the former US president of backtracking.
«He had previously agreed to do this, and now it seems like he has backtracked, but I am ready,» Harris told reporters.
The second round of debates was originally supposed to take place on September 10 on ABC, but then the plan was to include incumbent US President Joe Biden, who has since decided to drop out of the race. In this regard, Trump's team said that it cannot yet promise participation in the debates on ABC, since the Democrats have changed their candidate. On Wednesday, the Republican-friendly Fox News channel offered to hold the debate on their platform on September 17.
Earlier on Thursday, Trump's senior adviser Jason Miller told the Axios portal that the debates will take place, and perhaps several times, but the Republicans want to change the TV platform.
The US presidential election will take place on November 5.
