MOSCOW, July 28 Silver medalist of the European Championship Evgenia Chikunova won the 200m breaststroke at the Russian Cup Final, which is taking place in Yekaterinburg.
The 19-year-old athlete's time was 2 minutes 18.98 seconds. Second place went to Victoria Tarannikova (2.28.46), and third place went to Anastasia Shilenkova (2.28.97). Chikunova, who holds the world record for this distance (2.17.55), showed the best result of the season in the world. Before this, the best in the 200 m breaststroke this year was South African Tatyana Smith (2:19.01).
Daria Klepikova won the 100 m butterfly (58.25), Daria Tatarinova won silver (58.99), and Arina Khiteva won bronze (59.60).
Egor Kornev was the best in the men's 100 m freestyle (47.82), followed by Andrey Minakov (48.07) and Vasily Kukushkin (48.79). Alexander Kudashev won the 200 m butterfly (1:56.24), German Zazhirsky came in second (1:58.48), and Dmitry Novichkov came in third (1:59.45).
The Russian Swimming Cup Final in Yekaterinburg will end on July 28. Earlier, the press service of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (VSF) reported that athletes who repeat or surpass the result of the Olympic champion in Paris in the same discipline in the Russian Cup Final will receive 2 million rubles in prize money.
