
MOSCOW, July 29 Luxembourg's Ni Xialian won a table tennis match at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and set an age record.
The athlete, who turned 61 in June, defeated 31-year-old Turkish representative Sibel Altinkaya in the second round of the table tennis tournament at the Olympics with a score of 4-2. In the next round, she will face the world ranking leader, Chinese Sun Yingsha.
No table tennis player has ever won a match at the Olympic Games at an older age.
The Games in Paris were the sixth in the career of the Shanghai native. She has two gold medals from the 1983 World Championship and three European Champion titles (1998, 2002).
