A Krasnoyarsk resident was sentenced to 14 years in prison in the case of posting leaflets of the Freedom of Russia legion and attempting to set fire to a railway

The 2nd Eastern District Military Court sentenced Artem Sanzharaev, accused of posting leaflets about the Freedom of Russia Legion in Krasnoyarsk and attempting to set fire to a railroad, to 14 years in prison. This was reported by the court's press service.

The Krasnoyarsk resident must spend the first three years in prison, and the remaining 11 in a maximum security penal colony. The court also fined him 300,000 rubles.

The man joined the Freedom of Russia legion via Telegram, «being a convinced ideological opponent» of the Russian government and «dissatisfied with the current political regime,» the court said in a press release. On the instructions of one of the legion members, Sanzharaev posted leaflets in public places in Krasnoyarsk calling for people to join the unit.

The Krasnoyarsk resident also received the task from the legion to set fire to two relay cabinets «in order to undermine the economic security and defense capability» of Russia. According to the court, Sanzharaev bought the ingredients for a Molotov cocktail and began assembling it on the railroad when he was detained by FSB officers.

According to the case file on the court's website, Sanzharaev was found guilty of «confidential cooperation» with foreigners, attempted sabotage, calls for terrorism and participation in the activities of a terrorist organization.
