WASHINGTON, July 31Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko will perform in the United States for the first time since 2019, with a concert at the Palm Beach Opera in Florida scheduled for February 3, 2025, the organizers' website reports. The annual opera gala will take place on the evening of February 3.
«
«Enjoy an elegant dinner and the company of internationally acclaimed soprano Anna Netrebko, who will present a solo program at the Palm Beach Opera with pianist Angel Rodriguez,» the organizers reported.
The Palm Beach Opera is located on the site of one of the most fashionable complex hotels in America, and in different years, leading opera singers of the past and present have performed as part of the opera concerts organized there — Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Renee Fleming, Bryn Terfel, Isabel Leonard, Piotr Beczala and Nadine Sierra. Ticket sales for the upcoming concert on the organizers' website are not yet open, their possible cost has not been announced either, but the performance is also announced in the poster on Anna Netrebko's website.
«I am honored to lend my voice to the Palm Beach Opera's annual gala. It means the world to be part of the impressive list of performers who have performed in these concerts over the years,» the singer was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
Netrebko's last performance in the United States was in 2019, when she performed at the New York Metropolitan Opera, where she sang Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth. However, in 2022, the venue's management announced that Netrebko would not participate in the upcoming productions, as she had failed to comply with the requirement to renounce public support for Russian President Vladimir Putin amid the events in Ukraine. The world-famous singer filed a lawsuit demanding compensation. Following the Metropolitan Opera, the Bavarian State Opera severed ties with Netrebko. After that, Netrebko's representative announced that the singer had decided to take a break from concert activities. Netrebko later announced on social media that she would resume performing, first in Europe. She also stated that she is not a member of any political party and does not support any of the Russian political leaders.
In 2023, Netrebko returned to the stage — in September 2023, she performed at the Berlin Opera, in December — with Giuseppe Verdi's opera Don Carlos, she opened the season of the Milan Teatro alla Scala, her performances took place on the leading stages of European capitals.
