MOSCOW, July 31 The video hosting YouTube arbitrarily censors the materials posted there, blocking accounts whose rhetoric runs counter to American propaganda. This is Moscow's main complaint against them, said the deputy director of the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Andrey Nastasin.
«Our main complaint about Western online platforms like YouTube is the arbitrary censorship they practice. We are talking about blocking accounts whose rhetoric is inconvenient for some reason for the US authorities, because it goes against their propaganda. There are obvious violations of freedom of speech, which the Anglo-Saxons and Europeans so hypocritically defend in the international arena,» he said at a briefing.
«Using YouTube as an example, it is important to remember that we are not dealing with neutral transnational companies focused on the interests of the audience, but with an American economic operator working out Washington's political guidelines,» he said.
At the same time, Nastasin noted, the YouTube administration «continues to ignore the legal demands of Roskomnadzor to remove over 60 thousand prohibited extremist materials, including those calling for illegal actions against Russian citizens.»
