Russian flag shown on Olympic website broadcast

MOSCOW, July 31 The Russian flag was shown in a live broadcast during the swimming competition on the website of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Before the start of the 200-meter breaststroke, the broadcast showed the result of Evgenia Chikunova, who set a world record in April 2023 — 2 minutes 17.55 seconds. Next to the athlete's name was the Russian flag, which is banned at the Olympics.

Later, Evgeny Rylov's Olympic record in the 200-meter backstroke was shown — 1.53.27. The swimmer set it at the Tokyo Olympics, when Russian athletes could not compete under the Russian flag. The use of the country's national anthem was also prohibited. For this reason, the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), under which the Russians competed, was shown in the broadcast.

The Olympics are being held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. There will be 15 Russians competing in five sports at the Games: seven tennis players, three canoeists, three cyclists, one trampoline jumper and one swimmer. By decision of the IOC, they will compete in the French capital as neutrals, without the Russian flag and anthem, and their awards will not be shown in the medal table.
