MOSCOW, August 5 Raiffeisenbank has temporarily suspended the opening of new brokerage accounts for retail investors since July 26; old accounts are being serviced as usual, according to a statement from the bank's press service.
«In connection with the ECB's order to the RBI Group, Raiffeisenbank is forced to reduce the volume of operations on the Russian market. At this stage, we have decided to temporarily suspend the opening of new brokerage accounts for retail investors from July 26, 2024. Please note that existing brokerage accounts are serviced as usual,» the statement said.
At the same time, Raiffeisenbank continues to work with all categories of clients, the press service added.
In Russia, Raiffeisenbank has been operating with the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank International AG since 1996. In April, RBI said it expected the European Central Bank (ECB) to demand that it accelerate the reduction of the Austrian bank's activities in Russia. In its first-quarter results, released earlier, the group confirmed that it continues to actively work on the sale or spin-off of its Russian subsidiary.
