MOSCOW, August 6 Since the launch of the project, Russians have been increasingly applying for the “Resident Card” — a product that combines regional and federal services for the population into the functionality of a bank card, reports the VTB press service.
The “Resident Card” project is being implemented by the regional governments of Russia together with issuing banks. It was created on the basis of debit cards of banks of the national payment system «Mir» with a contactless payment function. With its help, you can pay for purchases, transfer funds, receive social benefits and use digital banking services. The card replaces a travel ticket. The functionality of the card allows it to be supplemented with various social and commercial services, such as a compulsory medical insurance policy, a pass to work or study, and others, the report says.
So, to date, VTB Bank has issued 750 thousand such cards. They are available in 12 regions of Russia.
«»According to our surveys, today Russians on average use three bank cards, which encourages them to constantly look for better conditions. In this sense, the “Resident Card” is a universal tool for solving financial and social problems. <…> Demand for it will grow: by the end of the year we will increase the number of cards issued in Russia to one million,” said Deputy President and Chairman of the Board of VTB Georgy Gorshkov, whose words are quoted in the message.
