Gas prices in Europe reached $435 per thousand cubic meters

MOSCOW, August 7 Gas prices in Europe, amid concerns about the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, reached $435 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since December, according to data from the London ICE exchange.
September (nearest) futures on the TTF index (the largest hub in Europe, located in the Netherlands) opened trading at 9.00 Moscow time at $417.4 (+0.8%) per thousand cubic meters. And as of 16.09 Moscow time, their cost is $428.1 (+3.4%). Minutes earlier, they reached $435.4 (+5.1%) for the first time since December. The dynamics of quotes are based on the settlement price of the previous trading day — $414.2 per thousand cubic meters.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, fighting was reported in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region — on the Russian border with Ukraine. Gas supplies through the Sudzha gas measuring station are the only transport artery for Russian gas supplies through Ukraine to Europe. Gazprom supplies about 15 billion cubic meters per year through it, which corresponds to approximately 5% of demand in the EU.
