
BLAGOVESHCHENSK, August 8 The Ebeko volcano on the Kuril island of Paramushir ejected a column of ash to a height of 3 kilometers on Thursday, the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported.
«The explosions raised the ash of the Ebeko volcano 3 kilometers above sea level. The ash plume extended 3 kilometers to the east of the volcano. The volcano's activity is dangerous for local air travel,» the report says.
The Ebeko volcano, 1,156 meters high, is located on Paramushir Island, seven kilometers northwest of Severo-Kurilsk in the northern part of the Vernadsky Ridge. Regular emissions (from weak to moderate) have been ongoing since October 20, 2016, which is normal activity for the volcano. The record emission was recorded on August 31, 2018. Then a column of smoke shot up to a height of six kilometers from the new crater of the volcano, which formed in 2017.
