Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said on Wednesday that on August 6 at 5.30, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces numbering up to a thousand people went on the offensive with the aim of seizing territory in the Kursk region. Their advance deeper into Russian territory has been stopped, he noted. The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region will be completed with the defeat of the enemy and access to the state border. On Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which tried to advance in the Kursk region, had already lost 660 military personnel and 82 armored vehicles in 2 days, including eight tanks, 12 armored personnel carriers, six infantry fighting vehicles and 55 armored vehicles.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the situation in the Kursk region, stated that the Kiev regime has undertaken another large-scale provocation and is firing indiscriminately, including at civilian targets.
