
MOSCOW, August 8 The Ukrainian Armed Forces are unable to stabilize the situation in the Toretsk area, writes the Polish publication Myśl Polska.
“Despite fierce resistance, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command is unable to stabilize the situation and stop the Russian offensive,” the article says.
The observer fears that the Russian military will soon be able to push the Ukrainians out of their positions near Toretsk and advance further in its direction.
Toretsk (in 2016, the Ukrainian authorities renamed Dzerzhinsk) is a powerful fortified area with a well-developed railway network, where The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been entrenched since 2014. It is from here that Gorlovka, one of the largest cities in the DPR, is regularly shelled. Taking Toretsk will facilitate the supply of Russian troops along the Donetsk-Gorlovka-Artemovsk road, and will also allow them to threaten to enter the rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in Kleshcheyevka. In addition, from here it is possible to develop an offensive to the northwest — towards Konstantinovka.
