Microsoft Accuses Iran of Interfering in US Elections

MOSCOW, August 9 Microsoft claims that hacker groups linked to Iran are allegedly using fake news sites to interfere in the upcoming US presidential election, accusations Iran has previously denied. A report on this is posted on the company's website.
«Today, we are sharing activity we are tracking that increasingly suggests Iran is intent on influencing this year's U.S. presidential election,» the report said.

Microsoft says Iranian-linked hacking groups are tracking current election-related trends and allegedly spreading messages to influence American opinion, especially in so-called swing states. Second, they are conducting operations to gather information about election campaigns, which the company says they can then influence.

Thus, Microsoft claims that hackers allegedly create fake websites where they post materials on topics important to Americans, and artificial intelligence technologies are used to write the texts. The corporation also stated that with the help of the hacked mail of a former official, hackers allegedly send links to high-ranking American officials, through which they steal information about their online activity. For example, hackers then tried to enter the mail of an unnamed «former presidential candidate» of the United States, the report states.
With the help of hacked accounts, hackers also collect information about the defense sector, American satellites and the healthcare sector, the authors of the report stated.
At the end of July, Iran's mission to the UN rejected US intelligence claims regarding Tehran's alleged interference in the upcoming US elections.
