The second-generation flagship frame SUV Haval H9 is offered in Russia in two trim levels and with two engines to choose from — gasoline and diesel.
The second-generation Haval H9 had its formal premiere in April at the Beijing Auto Show, but sales in China have not yet begun – local prices are expected to be announced at the end of August at the Chengdu Auto Show. Meanwhile, Russian dealers are already accepting orders for the Haval H9 — though not all dealers, but those that have been honored to sell models from the Haval Pro line, which, in addition to the Haval H9, includes the brutal Haval H3 crossover.

The new Haval H9 is an honest SUV with a frame design, a longitudinally mounted engine and a Torque-on-Demand all-wheel drive: power to the front wheels is automatically taken by a multi-plate hydraulic clutch installed in the transfer case. The transfer case also has a downshift, and forced locks are provided for both interwheel differentials. The front suspension is independent, spring, on double wishbones. The rear suspension is dependent, spring, multi-link. The overall length of the SUV is 4950 mm, width is 1976 mm, height is 1930 mm, wheelbase is 2850 mm, ground clearance is 224 mm.

There are two engines to choose from. The 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine is familiar to us from the previous generation of Haval H9, its maximum output is 218 hp at 5,500 rpm and 380 Nm at 1,800-3,600 rpm. The petrol engine is paired with an 8-speed hydromechanical automatic, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 11.9 s, the maximum speed is 180 km/h. The fuel tank capacity is 80 l. The curb weight is 2,470 kg.
The 2.4-liter turbodiesel is completely new, it produces 184 hp at 3,600 rpm and 480 Nm at 1,500-2,500 rpm. The automatic transmission for diesel versions is 9-speed, acceleration to 100 km/h takes 14 seconds, maximum speed is 170 km/h. Fuel tank capacity is 78 l. Curb weight is 2560 kg.

The new Haval H9 also has two trim levels — the basic Elite and the advanced Premium. In both, the SUV has a three-row interior with a 2+3+2 seating arrangement. The trunk volume with all seven seats in use is 88 liters, with the gallery folded — 791 liters, with the second row folded — 1598 liters. The sofa in the second row is divided into two parts in a ratio of 60:40; the halves can be moved back and forth independently of each other and thus change the volume of the trunk. The suitcase on the tailgate is a storage case, the spare tire is located under the bottom in the rear light. Cars intended for the Russian market have improved anti-corrosion treatment of the body, a more capacious battery and an enlarged tank for windshield washer fluid (4.5 l). Also included as standard is steel protection for the engine, gearbox and fuel tank.

The Elite package includes a full set of front, side and window airbags, fully LED optics, three-zone climate control, a multimedia system with a 14.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument screen, an audio system (8 speakers), a 50-watt wireless charger for a smartphone, all-round cameras, rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors, cruise control, perforated leatherette upholstery, heated seats in the first and second rows, electric adjustment of the driver's seat, heated steering wheel and windshield, keyless entry and push-button engine start, a sunroof with a curtain, footrests under the thresholds, roof rails, 18-inch alloy wheels, forced locking of the rear interwheel differential.

The Premium package differs from the Elite package in the forced locking of the front interwheel differential, 19-inch wheels, improved noise insulation, automatic switch of headlights from high to low beam, front parking sensors, panoramic glass roof with sunroof and curtain, front seats with ventilation and massagers, electric adjustment of the front passenger seat, a more powerful audio system (10 speakers + subwoofer) and a set of electronic driver assistants (automatic emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, etc.).
