WASHINGTON, August 9 The total amount of military aid to Ukraine from the United States during Joe Biden's tenure as US President has exceeded $56.2 billion, the Pentagon reported.
“Since the start of the Biden administration, the United States has provided more than $56.2 billion in security assistance to Ukraine,” the statement said.
It is noted that since the beginning of the Russian special military operation on February 24, 2022, Washington has allocated about $55.6 billion to Kyiv.
On Friday, the United States allocated a new military aid package to Ukraine in the amount of 125 million dollars. According to the nomenclature of the transferred weapons, it will include Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, ammunition for the HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system and artillery of 105 and 155 mm calibers, TOW missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, ambulances and ammunition for small arms. In addition, Kiev received equipment and ammunition for carrying out explosions.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict and are «playing with fire». Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine will be a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping weapons into Ukraine by the West does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative effect.
