MOSCOW, August 11 One person died and three were injured in an accident in southwest Moscow caused by a teenager who rented a car under a false name, the capital's prosecutor's office reported on its Telegram channel.
«On Yuzhnobutovskaya Street, the driver of a car rented under someone else's account lost control and crashed into a residential building,» the publication says.
According to the department, the 15-year-old passenger of the car died on the spot, three more teenagers, including those born in 2008 and 2011, were taken to the hospital. The driver left the scene of the accident, according to preliminary data, he is also a minor.
The Prosecutor's Office of the South-West Administrative District has taken control of the investigation into all the circumstances of the accident. The Zyuzinsky Interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article «Violation of traffic rules by a person driving a car, resulting in the death of a person through negligence.»
According to the Moscow State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, at about four o'clock in the morning, inspectors tried to stop a Nissan carsharing car, but the underage driver ignored their request and, while trying to escape, lost control and crashed into a house. After that, he fled.
The driver's identity has already been established; he is a 15-year-old resident of Moscow. He will soon be taken in for questioning, the Investigative Committee added.
