ZNPP: the physical integrity of the station was violated after the attack
The attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which led to a fire, violated the physical integrity of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, the RIA Novosti, Director of Communications at Zaporizhzhya NPP Evgeniya Yashina.
«In essence, this attack is one of the elements of disabling the station. This is an unprecedented threat to nuclear safety, since the nuclear power plant has suffered such serious damage for the first time. Physical integrity has been violated, thereby violating the basic principles of the IAEA,» she said.
On Sunday evening, Zaporizhzhya Oblast Governor Evgeny Balitsky reported that a fire broke out at the Zaporizhzhya NPP cooling system facility after the shelling of Energodar by Ukrainian troops. The head of the region noted that all six power units are in cold shutdown, there is no threat of a steam explosion or other consequences.
