Economist and director of the Institute for the New Society Vasily Koltashov on Radio «Komsomolskaya Pravda» explained when the results of the latest increase in the key rate by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation will be noticeable. He noted that although the rate was officially increased to combat inflation, the main goal is to cool speculation in the real estate market and stabilize housing prices.
Koltashov emphasized that the main effect of the rate increase should be manifested in a slowdown in the growth of real estate prices, which is important for the overall health of the economy. A decrease in inflation will not be expressed in a fall in prices, but their growth rate should stabilize.
He also said that, despite the large injections of money into the economy associated with military spending, the increase in the rate is aimed at limiting incentives for price growth and trading activity. The main task is to ensure the stability of the economy, primarily through stabilization of the real estate market.
