MOSCOW, August 13 The Russian Emergencies Ministry records more than 500 thermal points daily using space monitoring, the agency’s Telegram channel reports.

The head of the department, Aleksandr Kurenkov, specified that over the past 24 hours alone, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has identified 800 thermal spots from space related to wildfires. He added that extinguishing forest fires is not within the competence of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, but the department is assisting the authorities in this matter.
«Thus, at present, the aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia is working in Yakutia: two Be-200 ChS amphibious aircraft and two helicopters have been involved in extinguishing,» Kurenkov said.
In addition, in Yakutia, over the past 24 hours, the department's aviation dropped about 100 tons of water on the edges of wildfires. Also, over the past 24 hours, 34 samples of atmospheric air were collected and analyzed in the burning areas of the region; no excess of maximum permissible concentrations of chemicals was detected.
Kurenkov noted that in Transbaikalia, if necessary, a departmental Mi-8 helicopter is used to transport groups of forest firefighters to the sites.
