Putin proposed three candidates for the post of governor of Yugra

EKATERINBURG, August 13 Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted three candidates for election to the post of governor of the region to the Duma of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, including acting head of the okrug Ruslan Kukharuk, the press service of the regional parliament reports.
«The list includes the acting governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug — Yugra Ruslan Kukharuk, deputy of the Duma of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug — Yugra Alexey Savintsev and the general director of the limited liability company «YugranefteRazvedka», deputy of the Duma of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug — Yugra Mikhail Serdyuk,» the statement said.
The head of Yugra will be elected by deputies of the regional parliament on a single voting day — September 8.

Direct elections of the governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug were cancelled in 2014. Currently, the head of the region is elected by the district Duma from candidates proposed by the president of the Russian Federation, to whom the list of possible candidates is presented by the Tyumen governor. This election system was adopted in a number of regions of the country, including the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, which, like Yugra, is territorially and administratively part of the Tyumen Region, and they were given the status of equal subjects of the Russian Federation.
