Russia extends investigation into Poroshenko's factory case

MOSCOW, August 14 The investigation into the case of fraud worth 180 million rubles by the confectionery factory of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko «Roshen» in Russia has been extended until mid-September, the court left the property of the chocolate empire under arrest, the law enforcement agencies.
A criminal case on the fact of fraudulent theft of 180 million rubles from illegal reimbursement of value-added tax from the budget has been investigated against unidentified persons since 2015.

«Several workshops, including a candy workshop and a pastila and marmalade workshop, a warehouse, and seven land plots belonging to Roshen Lipetsk Confectionery Factory OJSC remain under arrest until at least September 13,» the agency's source said.

At the same time, the preliminary investigation period has also been extended to September 13.
Previously, the arrested property was valued at 2 billion rubles. The Ukrainian corporation Roshen is one of the world's largest confectionery manufacturers.
Roshen Corporation made the decision to stop its confectionery factory in Lipetsk in April 2017 for political and economic reasons. Production was mothballed. The corporation valued its assets remaining in Lipetsk at 200 million dollars.
In July of this year, the director of the Federal Bailiff Service of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Aristov, reported that bailiffs had transferred shares of a confectionery factory to the Russian Federation.
