MOSCOW, August 14 Employees of a Kyiv defense enterprise embezzled $290,000 intended for the development of dynamic protection for Ukrainian Armed Forces tanks, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported on Wednesday in its Telegram channel.
«Based on materials from the SBU and NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine — ed.), suspicions were raised against businessmen who stole money from the production of dynamic protection for Ukrainian Armed Forces tanks… the scheme caused damage to the state budget in the amount of almost 12 million hryvnia (about $290,000 — ed.),» the SBU said in a statement.
As noted in the publication, in 2022, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry signed an agreement with a machine-building enterprise from Kyiv on the development of dynamic protection for armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, the company's employees deliberately inflated the amounts in the contract, appropriating the difference from the actual cost of the products.
