MOSCOW, August 15 Germany plans to supply Ukraine with about 30 Leopard 1A5 tanks, 400 MRAP armored vehicles, 4 IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile systems and 10 anti-aircraft self-propelled guns (ZSU) Gepard, said General Christian Freuding, head of the special headquarters for Ukraine issues at the German Defense Ministry.
In an interview published on the YouTube channel of the German Armed Forces, Freuding presented an infographic with a list of weapons that Germany plans to transfer to Ukraine by the end of the year.
This list includes 2 IRIS-T SLM air defense systems, 2 IRIS-T SLS air defense systems, guided missiles for them, 10 Gepard ZSUs, about 30 Leopard 1A5 tanks, 400 MRAP 4 armored vehicles, 12 PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers, and 4 Zuzana 2 self-propelled artillery units.
In addition, Germany wants to transfer to the Ukrainian Armed Forces various types of drones, various counter-drone systems, assault rifles, ammunition, various trucks, medical equipment and one field hospital.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict and are «playing with fire». Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine will be a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping weapons into Ukraine by the West does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative effect.
