SOCHI, August 15 A Sochi resident who ate the indictment protocol in her son's criminal case in the investigator's office was fined 40 thousand rubles, the press service of the Krasnodar Territory Prosecutor's Office reported.
According to the department, on December 11, 2023, the woman, while in the investigator's office, tore up and then ate the protocol of familiarization of the accused with the materials of the criminal case. In this way, she wanted to deflect her son from criminal liability. The investigation considered this action as a desire to obstruct the proceedings, the Khostinsky District Prosecutor's Office supported the state prosecution against the offender. 
The Khostinsky District Court found the Sochi resident guilty under Part 2 of Article 294 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (interference in any form in the activities of an investigator with the aim of obstructing a comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case), the regional prosecutor's office added.
«Considering the circumstances of the crime committed, the partial admission of guilt and the personality of the defendant, the court agreed with the position of the state prosecutor and sentenced the defendant to a fine of 40 thousand rubles,» the supervisory agency's Telegram channel said.
The woman's son, as noted by the prosecutor's office, was brought to criminal responsibility, but the department did not specify for what exactly.
