MOSCOW, August 16 Political scientist and Channel One host Dmitry Simes suggested on Channel One that the search of his home in the United States could have been carried out under the influence of the Ukrainian authorities or activists who persuaded the American side to take such a step.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed the fact of the search of Simes' estate, emphasizing that this measure was sanctioned by an American court. As the political scientist told the agency, he was not notified of the search in advance; he himself is in Moscow and has not been to the United States since October 2022.
«I have a feeling that maybe we are dealing with a situation where the Ukrainian authorities, Ukrainian activists somehow collaborated with the American authorities and persuaded the American authorities to organize this kind of attack on an American citizen near the American capital,» he said.
By his definition, we are talking about a situation «when the tail wags the dog,» which, Simes believes, would be very shameful for the American justice system.
Simes was the moderator of the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2023.
